This site is a product of a collaborative work of 6 talented teachers of Arabic as a foreign language, with extensive and long experience teaching Arabic at the university level. We come from various backgrounds and geographical regions that will be reflected in the variety of material presented in our modules of learning Arabic. We all share a great interest and enthusiasm for applying new technologies in language learning and teaching. We also share a desire to make learning Arabic as a foreign and second language accessible to a wider population of learners.

Omima Elaraby أميمة العربي
Senior Lecturer of Arabic Language at New York University Abu Dhabi
A specialist in Arabic language and literature, Omima El Araby has extensive experience teaching Arabic and designing rigorous foreign language programs. She has been teaching the Arabic Language since 1981 She also served as a Course Developer and Test Writer and co-authored a number of textbooks, digital instructional material and proficiency-based tests. She served as the Program Assistant Director since the fall semester of 2015, then as a Program Head of the Arabic Studies Program from 2019 till 2022. Her main interest is in foreign language pedagogy and technology integration in language learning.
Manal Al Marzooqi منال المرزوقي

Education: B.A. (Arabic Literature) College of Arabic and Islamic Studies; M.A. (Linguistics and Syntax) College of Arabic and Islamic Studies; PhD, Arabic Linguistics Syntax Alwasl University. Research Areas: Arabic Language, Classical Arabic, Linguistics, Syntax, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics. Her Master thesis titled Multilingualism in the UAE: Lingual, social and educational study. And her PhD was about language interference between Arabic and English; Lingual and educational study. Dr. Al Marzooqi’s research interests include Arabic Language, Classical Arabic, Linguistics, Arabic Syntax, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics. She teaches native and non-speaker of Arabic at all levels.
Corinne Stokes كورين ستوكس
Senior Lecturer of Arabic Language at New York University New York
Corinne Stokes earned her MA in Arabic Studies in 2012 and her PhD in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures in 2016 from the University of Texas at Austin. Before her graduate work, she studied at the Berklee College of Music and the American University in Cairo and earned a BA in Religious Studies and Music at the University of Miami. Stokes’ research interests are in sociolinguistics, linguistic ethnography, dialectology, pedagogy, and popular culture studies. Her work in curriculum design seeks to incorporate intercultural, multimodal, and multilingual perspectives in language and culture teaching.
Ghada Badawi غادة بدوي
Clinical Associate Professor of Arabic Language at New York University New York
Prior to being appointed at NYU, Ghada taught Arabic language at Tufts University, Harvard University and Columbia University. Ghada’s first M.A. is in Written Translation (from and into Arabic/English), from the Faculty of Languages (AL-Alsun) at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. Her second M.A. is in Applied Linguistics, from Teachers College at Columbia University. Ghada has more than twenty-five years of experience in teaching both English and Arabic as foreign languages, in addition to teaching other courses like Phonetics and Phonology, Translation and TOEFL. Ghada’s research interests are Foreign Language Assessment, Foreign Language Testing and Using Technology in Teaching Languages for non-native speakers.
Amani Hassan أماني حسان
Clinical Professor of Arabic Language at New York University New York
Director of the Arabic language program at NYU-NY, Amani Hassan has more than 20 years of experience teaching Arabic as a foreign language at college level in the United States. She has extensive experience and training in instructional methods, curriculum development, assessment & placement exams as well as language pedagogy. Amani was awarded the Golden Dozen: Excellence in Teaching Award 2017 at NYU . Courses taught are Elementary, Intermediate MSA, Egyptian Dialect as well as graduate courses in Arabic Translation. Amani has participated in many professional development workshops on teaching with technology, blended language learning, ACTFL Oral and writing proficiency.
